The story

Frank Borges was an early Walnut Creek pioneer, and his family's ranch house was built in 1901. Wikipedia says the Borges family bought about 700 acres in 1899, and that the City of Walnut Creek bought the ranch in 1976.

The ranch is on the National Register of Historic Places, listed in 1981. Today the farmhouse has displays on life in the early 1900s, and the ranch still has a blacksmith shop, farm equipment, and animals cared for by Pleasant Hill 4-H.

Did you know? The Borges family home was built in 1901 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Historians argue about this. Only Wikipedia gives the 1899 land purchase and the 1976 city purchase; the other source we read does not say. No old photo of the ranch was found, so the Then slot is empty.
