The Arctic Brotherhood Hall was built in 1899, and its front is covered with driftwood. It is one of the buildings that make up the Skagway Historic District and White Pass, a National Historic Landmark District.
Almost 100 buildings from the gold rush are still standing in the district. The Skagway part covers a historic core 23 blocks long and three to five blocks wide, with more than 350 buildings. Most are wood-frame buildings with one or two stories and brightly painted false fronts.
Fourteen of those blocks were under National Park Service protection by 1999.
