The story

The Basilica of Saint Mary was designated a minor basilica by Pope Pius XI in 1926, the first in the United States. Emmanuel Masqueray was the architect. Construction ran from 1907 to 1914, and the first Mass was held on May 31, 1914.

The sanctuary dome rises 138 feet above the floor. With the flèche and cross it reaches 200 feet. The nave is lit by five large arched stained glass windows, and the pews hold 1,600 people.

The style is Classical Revival, and the history section calls it Beaux-Arts. It stands at 1600 Hennepin Avenue between 16th and 17th Streets.

Did you know? The pews seat 1,600 people.
Historians argue about this. Wikipedia gives two dedication dates, 1913 in the lead and 1921 in the history section, and does not reconcile them. Check a church source before repeating one.
